Christmas: The Ultimate Time Vortex (and How to Survive It)

Let’s talk about something no one warns you about: Christmas is a freakin’ time vortex. One minute, it’s November, you’re smugly saying, “I’ve got so much time to get organized,” and the next thing you know, it’s December 24th, you’re wrestling with a roll of wrapping paper, and Aunt Carol’s calling to ask if you remembered the gluten-free stuffing.
Seriously, where does the time even go? Christmas somehow manages to speed up and slow down simultaneously. It’s like being in a weird holiday wormhole where:
• You spend three days baking, decorating, and shopping, but somehow it’s still Christmas Eve, and you forgot batteries for the kids’ toys.
• Lunch with the family lasts approximately 47 hours, but dessert disappears in 3 seconds flat.
Time.
Vortex.
Be Present, Not Stuck in the Swirl
Here’s the thing, gorgeous: Christmas is supposed to be about presence, not presents (although, let’s not pretend we don’t love a good gift). But when you’re caught in the chaos of the time vortex, it’s easy to miss the moments that actually matter.
This year, let’s all make a pact to slow the hell down and soak it in:
• The laughter around the table.
• The way your loved ones’ faces light up when they open a thoughtful gift.
• The pure joy of catching the dog sneaking off with a chunk of ham (okay, maybe not pure joy, but it’s a story for next year).
A Law of Attraction Reminder
Here’s the deal: time might feel like it’s flying, but you’re still the one in control of how you feel. If you focus on stress, chaos, and all the things that didn’t go as planned (cough burnt turkey cough), you’ll end up attracting more of that frantic energy.
But if you stop, take a breath, and focus on gratitude—even for the messy, imperfect moments—you’ll invite more of those good vibes in. Christmas isn’t about perfection; it’s about connection.
What Matters Most in the Vortex
If today feels like it’s slipping away in a blur, here’s your reminder:
• It doesn’t matter if the tree’s a little lopsided.
• It doesn’t matter if the dog did eat the turkey (again).
• And it definitely doesn’t matter if Uncle Bob’s fallen asleep in the recliner before dessert.
What matters is the love, the laughter, and the time you’re spending with the people who make your life better—even if they drive you a little bonkers while they’re at it.
So, Here’s to Escaping the Vortex
Take a deep breath, pour yourself another glass of wine (or whatever festive drink you’re into), and let yourself be. Time may feel like it’s doing somersaults, but the moments that matter are happening right now, gorgeous.
Here’s to love, laughter, and making memories you’ll actually want to talk about next Christmas.
Big love,
Sarah

P.S. If the vortex gets too much, just put on Michael Bublé, and let the man’s buttery voice remind you that it’s all going to be okay. 💕
